Capri from the water

Capri is the most immediately recognizable of the three islands, but on this itinerary the experience stays deliberately on the water. There is no landing. Instead, the boat follows the coastline and lets the island reveal itself from the perspective that gives its landscape its full scale: limestone cliffs rising directly from the sea, rock formations, caves, coves, and the open-water views that have defined Capri’s image for generations.

Keeping the visit offshore also changes the rhythm of the day. There is no time lost moving between the marina and the center of the island. Capri becomes a coastal experience before the journey continues across the Gulf toward a very different landscape.

Guests who want to dedicate an entire day to the island, including a more extensive exploration of its coastline, can instead choose our private boat tour around Capri.

Ischia and Sant'Angelo

Ischia changes the character of the journey. Larger and volcanic, the island feels different from Capri before you even step ashore. Its coastline is broader and more varied, with headlands, beaches, small bays, and villages appearing along the water as the boat approaches.

The stop on Ischia is Sant’Angelo, the small pedestrian village on the island’s southern coast. Arriving from the sea places you directly at the waterfront, where the village curves around its harbor beneath the rocky promontory that defines its profile.

Time ashore here provides a first change of pace during the day. After seeing Capri entirely from the boat, Sant’Angelo offers the chance to walk, spend time along the waterfront, and experience one of Ischia’s most distinctive coastal settlements before returning to the water.

For a closer look at the village itself, see our guide to Sant’Angelo and its relationship with the sea.

Procida and Marina Corricella

Procida brings another change in scale. Smaller and more intimate than Ischia, the island is defined less by monumental scenery than by the relationship between its villages and the water. Nowhere is that clearer than Marina Corricella.

The fishing harbor unfolds along a curved waterfront of pastel-colored houses, terraces, arches, fishing boats, and restaurants. Approaching by sea makes the shape of the village immediately understandable, with the buildings rising behind the harbor in layers before the boat reaches the landing.

Guests can step ashore at Marina Corricella and spend time in the village before returning to the boat. It is a very different experience from Capri’s cliffs or Ischia’s broader volcanic landscape, which is precisely what makes Procida an important part of this three-island route.

You can explore the destination in greater depth in our Procida destination guide and our article on Marina Corricella.

Three islands, three different perspectives

The value of combining Capri, Ischia, and Procida is not simply the number of places visited. It is the contrast between them.

Capri is the dramatic island: limestone cliffs, caves, rock formations, and a coastline whose scale is clearest from the water.

Ischia is the volcanic island: larger, greener, and more varied, with Sant’Angelo adding time ashore in a village where the relationship with the sea is still immediate.

Procida is the intimate island: smaller in scale, with Marina Corricella bringing the day into a traditional harbor where houses, boats, and waterfront life occupy the same compact space.

If you are still deciding which island deserves more of your time, our guide to Capri, Ischia and Procida compares the three destinations individually.

Practical information

This is a full-day private experience of approximately 8 to 9 hours, with departures available from Naples or Sorrento. Capri is visited from the sea only. Guests go ashore in Sant’Angelo on Ischia and Marina Corricella on Procida.

The itinerary crosses several different areas of the Gulf, so route, sequence, and time at individual stops can be adjusted according to sea and weather conditions. The final organization of the day is confirmed with the skipper.

For guests who prefer to spend more time on fewer destinations, the Capri & Ischia itinerary and the Ischia & Procida itinerary offer two-island alternatives. To compare the boats available for a private day on the Gulf, see our private boat charters.

Optional Extension: Pompeii by Land and Sea

For guests who wish to enrich their day with a cultural experience, the itinerary can be extended to include a visit to Pompeii. After the coastal navigation, the skipper drops guests off at Marina di Stabia, where a private van is waiting to provide a comfortable transfer to the archaeological site.

This option allows you to combine a refined sea journey with one of the most important historical landmarks in the world, creating a seamless experience between sea and land. After the visit, transfers can be arranged according to your onward plans, ensuring continuity, comfort, and a well-balanced day.
