Can you take a private boat directly from the Naples cruise port?
Yes. We plan the day backward from your re-boarding hour, keep a comfortable safety margin, and arrange a convenient meeting point near the terminal. When you reach out, we ask for your ship’s name and your docking and re-boarding times, so the day fits your window precisely.
Will the cruise ship wait if you are late?
Cruise lines hold the ship for their own organized excursions, but they are not obliged to wait for guests traveling independently. If you are exploring on your own, the safe approach is to build a clear margin into the day and return to the port well before the all-aboard time.
Can you reach Capri, Ischia, or Procida on a day in port?
Yes. Ferries and hydrofoils to the islands leave from Molo Beverello, right beside the cruise terminal, and a private boat can also depart from the port. The islands are very reachable, but both the ferry timetable and your re-boarding time need to be respected, which is where careful planning matters.
Is Naples safe for cruise passengers?
Naples is a large, busy city, and the same common sense you would use in any major urban center applies here. Keep valuables secure and stay aware in crowded areas and on public transport. Most cruise visitors spend the day without any trouble, particularly in the central and tourist areas.
Is it better to explore Naples or take a day trip?
Both are valid, and it comes down to what you came for. Naples itself rewards travelers who enjoy dense, lived-in historic cities and exceptional food. Pompeii suits those drawn to archaeology, though it claims most of the day. If the Gulf of Naples and its islands are the reason you booked this stop, spending the day on the water is often the most memorable choice.
How much time do you really have on a day in port?
It depends on your ship, since re-boarding times vary. Most cruise lines ask guests to be back on board roughly 30 to 60 minutes before departure, so the practical day ashore is shorter than the published hours suggest. The most rewarding approach is to choose one focus, the city, a single day trip, or the bay by boat, rather than trying to fit in everything.
Can you walk into Naples from the cruise port?
Yes. The terminal sits in the center, with Castel Nuovo almost across the street. It is roughly a 10 to 15 minute walk to Piazza Municipio and the edge of the old town, and about 20 to 25 minutes into the heart of the historic center. The waterfront route is flat, so comfortable shoes are the only real requirement.
Is dinner included in the price?
No. Dinner in Capri is a separate expense, paid directly at the restaurant of your choice.
Can we have drinks on board?
Yes. A welcome drink is included, and a sunset aperitif is part of the experience. Prosecco, champagne, or other preferences can be arranged.
How do we get from Marina Piccola to the town?
Either by taxi or on foot via Via Krupp and the Gardens of Augustus. The choice depends on your preference and time available.
Where exactly do we have dinner in Capri?
The choice of restaurant is yours. The skipper can recommend options in the Piazzetta area or near the Gardens of Augustus.
How long does a typical Amalfi Coast boat tour last?
A full day on the water runs eight hours or more, including lunch and swimming time. Half-day formats of three to four hours are also possible, particularly for travelers focused on a single stretch of coast or for sunset itineraries along Positano and Praiano.
Where do private boat tours of the Amalfi Coast depart from?
Departures are available from Naples, Sorrento, and Positano. Naples works best for guests staying in the city or arriving by cruise. Sorrento is the most efficient base for travelers combining the Amalfi Coast with Capri. Positano allows the fastest start for a day focused entirely on the Amalfi towns.
When does the Amalfi Coast boat season start and end?
The season runs from late April through late October. Outside this window, many operators reduce service, and weather conditions become unpredictable. Mid-season, from May to early October, offers the most reliable combination of calm sea and full town infrastructure.
What is the best time of year for a private boat tour of the Amalfi Coast?
May, June, and September are the best months. The sea is calm, the towns are not yet at peak crowding, and the light is at its softest. July and August offer the warmest water and the most vibrant atmosphere along the coast, with the boat day often being the most comfortable part of a high-season trip.
Can I combine Capri with other destinations in the same day?
Yes. Popular combinations include Capri with Positano, Capri with the Sorrento coastline, and Capri with the bay of Nerano. The skipper adjusts the route based on your preferences and the available time.
Is it worth spending time on land in Capri during a boat tour?
A full-day itinerary allows enough time for both the boat tour around the island and a stop ashore, typically two to three hours to visit Capri town, take the funicular, and have lunch. It is entirely optional: some guests prefer to stay on the water the entire day.
Can I visit the Blue Grotto on a private boat tour?
Yes, your skipper will bring you to the entrance of the Blue Grotto. Entry depends on sea conditions because the opening is less than a meter high and closes when waves are too strong. The admission fee is paid on site and is not included in the tour. If the grotto is closed, the skipper will take you to the Green Grotto or White Grotto instead.
How long does it take to reach Capri from Naples by private boat?
Between fifty and sixty minutes, depending on the boat and sea conditions. The crossing is scenic, with views of Vesuvius, the Sorrento Peninsula, and the open Gulf.
What is the best time of year to visit Capri by boat?
May, June, and September offer the best balance of warm water, good weather, and manageable crowds. July and August are peak season. The island and surrounding waters are busier, but the swimming conditions are excellent.

Booking and planning
What defines a tailored private boat experience?
A tailored private boat experience is built around your preferences rather than a fixed program. The itinerary, pace, and stops are shaped by what you want to experience, whether that means focusing on scenic navigation, swimming spots, coastal views, or time spent ashore. The experience is designed to adapt to you, allowing the day to flow naturally instead of following a rigid schedule.
How flexible is the itinerary during a private boat tour?
The itinerary during a private boat tour is highly flexible. While a general plan is discussed before departure, adjustments can be made throughout the day based on sea conditions, personal interests, or simple changes of pace. This flexibility is what allows the experience to feel relaxed, personal, and never rushed.
Can routes and timing change during the tour?
Yes, routes and timing can change during the tour. It is possible to extend a stop, add time for swimming, adjust navigation, or modify return times when conditions allow. Any change is always evaluated by the skipper to ensure safety and comfort, while still prioritizing your preferences.
Is the boat reserved exclusively for one group?
Yes, by default the boat is reserved exclusively for one group, ensuring privacy, comfort, and a fully personalized experience. For guests who prefer a shared option, shared tours can be arranged, but they must be requested explicitly at the time of inquiry. This allows us to clearly distinguish between private experiences and shared ones, avoiding misunderstandings and ensuring expectations are aligned from the start.
